Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 7, 2026

MarkMello respects your privacy.

This Privacy Policy explains how the MarkMello website and the MarkMello desktop application handle data. The short version is simple: the MarkMello website does not collect personal data, does not use cookies, and does not track visitors. The MarkMello desktop application is designed to work locally with files on your own device.

Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to:

  • the MarkMello website available at markmello.ru;
  • the MarkMello desktop application;
  • general information published by the MarkMello project.

This policy does not apply to third-party websites or services that may be linked from the MarkMello website, including GitHub. When you visit or use third-party services, their own privacy policies and terms apply.

Website Data Collection

The MarkMello website does not collect personal data from visitors.

The website does not provide user accounts, registration forms, payment forms, newsletter subscriptions, embedded analytics, advertising pixels, or visitor tracking tools.

We do not collect, sell, rent, or share personal data about website visitors.

Cookies

The MarkMello website does not use cookies.

We do not use cookie-based analytics, advertising cookies, tracking cookies, or personalization cookies.

Because the website does not use cookies, there is no cookie consent banner on the website.

MarkMello Desktop Application

MarkMello is a local-first desktop application for opening, reading, and optionally editing Markdown files.

The application works with files on your own device. Markdown files opened in MarkMello are not uploaded to MarkMello servers. Their contents are not transmitted to us, analyzed by us, or stored by us.

MarkMello does not require a cloud account, workspace, subscription, or remote storage to open and read Markdown files.

If the application stores user preferences, such as theme or reading settings, those settings are intended to be stored locally on your device.

No Telemetry by Default

MarkMello does not include product analytics, behavioral tracking, or telemetry by default.

Performance measurements, diagnostics, or development profiling, where applicable, are intended for local development and regression testing rather than for collecting user data from installed applications.

External Links and GitHub

The MarkMello website may link to external services, including the public MarkMello repository on GitHub.

If you open the repository, download a release, create an issue, submit a pull request, or otherwise interact with the project through GitHub, GitHub may process data according to its own privacy policy and terms.

MarkMello does not control how GitHub or any other third-party service processes data.

Hosting and Technical Delivery

MarkMello itself does not collect or analyze visitor logs for tracking purposes.

Like most websites, the hosting provider or infrastructure used to deliver the website may process limited technical data necessary to serve the website, maintain availability, and protect infrastructure security. This may include basic request information such as IP address, browser user agent, request time, and requested URL.

This technical processing is not used by MarkMello for profiling, advertising, analytics, or visitor tracking.

Children's Privacy

MarkMello does not knowingly collect personal data from children.

The website and application are not designed to collect personal information from any user, including children.

Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated if the website, application, or data practices change.

If changes are made, the updated version will be published on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
